Supporting Improvements to the Digital Travel Reimbursement Experience for Veterans

We’re modernizing a system that Veterans and caregivers rely on to submit and track travel claims.

The Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA’s) Beneficiary Travel Self-Service System (BTSSS) is an intuitive interface for Veterans and caregivers to submit and track their beneficiary travel claims. It provides a Veteran-focused experience for beneficiary travel reimbursements, allowing claimants to submit and track travel claims at their convenience. BTSSS also gives beneficiaries the ability to receive payments by electronic funds transfer and helps eliminate fraud, waste, and abuse.

Coforma was recently awarded a three-year, $25M task order on the Spruce IDIQ to help VA:

  • Maintain and enhance BTSSS by automating and streamlining travel claim submissions;
  • Improve BTSSS adoption, accessibility, and system satisfaction among Veterans and caregivers; and
  • Increase auto-adjudication rates, reduce manual workload for Veterans and VA employees, and speed up payments while minimizing errors.

“Securing the BTSSS sustainment and modernization contract allows us to continue delivering value to our Veterans and their families,” says Imogen Thomas, Head of Solutions at Coforma. “Many Veterans travel long distances to access the world-class care offered by VA. By automating and streamlining the travel claim process, we are not just upgrading a system. We are making sure travel expenses are reimbursed accurately and on time, making lifesaving care more accessible.”

This award builds on our previous work supporting VA on projects such as the Lifestage Benefits Crew and Benefits Tools Crew. We look forward to continuing to help the agency facilitate top-tier digital experiences for Veterans.
